We were picked up this morning by our driver and van and taken on what they call a transfer tour. We made our way to the Ferrari Museum in Modena and the boys ogled and drooled over the cars. It was a good display and of course they had the souvenir shop, the $200 for 10min to be a passenger on the street and of course the obligatory cafe. It was quite busy and it was fun watching the little kids all kitted our in Ferrari gear as the proud dads snapped photos. I guess if you’re into that then it’s a thrill.
We then went to the Lamborghini museum which was much smaller and less crowded but I think Leisa and I drooled a bit. They had all the older cars plus new ones for sale and about to go into production. We oohed and aahed over the new SUV going into production this week. I don’t think we’ll be trading in anytime soon.
Off to Venice we went. Nodding off to sleep and occasionally looking out at the country landscape we eventually arrived. Our driver rang ahead and booked us a private taxi which was appreciated as it was fairly chaotic. Our wooden water taxi arrived and what can I say?? We LOVED it. We were hanging out the top of the boat snapping photos. It was so exciting. Our hotel is on a small canal just off the grand canal so we were whisked up the the private landing and helped off the boat. It was so movie star, aside from the fact my hair was knotty and wind blown and I had hay fever, in my head it was like in the movies.
We settled in to the gorgeous little Hotel Columbina, thanks Liane for the recommendation. It’s true old Venice style hotel. So quaint and the staff are just wonderful. We went to our canal side rooms, took obligatory photos then went down to enjoy our complimentary drink at the bar.
This, as always, turned into a couple of drinks before we decided to go exploring. It was so much fun exploring the little mazes of streets lined with restaurants and shops and crossing bridges over little canals. We just ambled along criss crossing until we found a nice little place for a drink and early dinner. There’s so many places to choose from I don’t think you could ever try them all. After dinner an obligatory gelato for the way home. We’re so looking forward to exploring more tomorrow.
