Oooh the Champs Elysee

Last night was Moulin Rouge.... ohhh lala it was magnifique.  The routines and dancing was so entertaining and the time flew. We had great seats too which was a bonus.  We arrived home after 11pm and the little restaurant next door was still busy so we stopped for a night cap and cheesecake as you do :)

This morning after a slowish start we headed to the Champs Elysee. Of course the president Mr Macron heard we were there and decided to pay a visit. He brought with him half of the French police force who closed off the road just so he could drive down.  Very in inconvenient!! He made us walk around the block several times just to get to where we wanted.

It didn’t deter us from shopping up a storm at Louis Vuitton. Ken, Mick and Leisa bought me a gorgeous LV coin wallet as thanks for organising the trip. I love it ❤️

We had lunch at the famous Fouquet’s on the Champs Elysee, it’s such a luxurious restaurant it’s been around since 1899 The French hold the Cesar award dinner (Oscars equivalent) there so many a famous guest has dined there, and now so have we :). Leisa swears she saw Danny De Vito there, but I think she was still dazzled by her LV purchase she couldn’t see properly.

We wandered, literally as it was 29 degrees and Mr Macron was being painful, down toward Avenue Montaigne which houses Chanel, Gucci and Versace. Ken and Mick kindly carried our bags while we oohed and aaahed. Eventually we were all shopped out as it was so hot, we were fading fast so we wandered off the find a cab. Again we blame Mr Macron as there were no cabs just lots of traffic. Finally we found one and headed black for a Nanna nap before our trip to the Louvre.

The Louvre is open late on Wednesday and Friday evenings so we booked a 7pm entry and I had downloaded a walking tour of the highlights from the Louvre website. It was a brilliant idea, I’m still chufffed at the brilliance!!  There were no crowds, we just walked in with our prebought tickets and with my iPhone instructions saw all the best bits. Last time we were there we didn’t get anywhere near the Mona Lisa, this time we easily got up to the barrier for photos. So if you know anyone coming to Paris do them a favour and pass on the tip.

After the Louvre we went for dinner close by to us and then again another nightcap and cheesecake from next door. Walking in there at 10.30 for a drink and dessert was no problem at all. Did I tell you I love Paris?
