Our final day in Paris was spent relaxing in the morning, I think we were all exhausted from the few busy days so it was nice to slow down.
We went to the local seafood pop up stall and bought prawns and oysters plus a delicious BBQ chicken, potato bake as well as fresh fruit & cheese and of course a couple of baguettes and had a feast at the apartment. The reason for the chicken and potato bake was that we’d walked past a butcher each day who had chickens on a rotisserie and underneath was the potatoes cooking in the chicken juices and then made into potato bake. We just had to try it!! Heart attack food I know but it was so, so tasty.
We then went on a huge walk (to burn some food off) around the Marais area people watching and cafe hopping for water, wine or coffee. It was fabulous to see the gorgeous residences and families out for their Sunday afternoon stroll.
We headed back and packed our bags the looked for somewhere to have our last supper. Leisa found a lovely restaurant close by called Le Temps des Cerises which is in a beautiful old 14th century building. The ambience was so lovely with the old floorboards and upstairs room on a lean. The menu was typical of a French cafe. A perfect place for a last tango in Paris.
We resisted the temptation of a night cap and cheesecake as we headed home as we had an early start the next day.
We will be sad to leave Paris and hope we get to come back soon. On to Milan we go.
Paris extras:
We loved our apartment. It was so much better than I expected, the location was perfect. The courtyard linked to 2 other courtyards so we could walk through them to get to rue St Antoine where the Metro, Taxis and shops such as grocery and boulengerie and loads of restaurants.
We were welcomed warmly into every restaurant we went into and if we returned we were greeted like old friends. We didn’t come across
