We started our morning with a visit to the bakery for our pastries for breakfast. A total of €6 for breakfast for 4 and it was delicious. Mick and Leisa arrived yesterday so they were very excited to be having their first Paris croissants.
We headed off to the Eiffel Tower, we traveled by Taxi purely for the ease. Trocadero was our stop for the first look at the beautiful tower. We were there nice and early before the crowds. Trocadero is raised up to a great level to photograph the tower and is where many models and film crews do their shoots.
We walked over to the tower and Ken, Mick and Leisa decided to climb the 700 + stairs to the 2nd level and take the lift to the top. It was a quicker way to do it - 1 1/2 hours from line up for tickets to back down on the ground. I can recommend it if you’re feeling fit and by arriving before 9.30 when ticket sales start you can beat the crowds.
Whilst the crazy ones climbed the stairs I went for a walk in the park and then a €7 coffee (11aud) was in order. All the flowers are blooming and as it was quite warm it was a beautiful walk.
After the tower we did a Seine river cruise which goes for 1 hour and is pretty interesting. We then took another taxi to Montmartre where we had a leisurely lunch and walk around the area. It’s so pretty there with loads of gorgeous cafes and market shops. It got fairly hot and we all started fading and as we are heading to Moulin Rouge tonight we’ve come back for a rest.
Some snaps from the day
Everywhere we went today there’s police and security with their massive guns which makes me feel quite safe and nervous at the same time
