Paris I might have to break up with you

I think I’m in love with Florence.

We started our morning with a lovely breakfast with Mariangela at our B&B. Lots of pastries, fruits and yoghurt and coffee so strong you could stand your spoon up in it!

Off we went in a taxi to Fiat 500 Touring Club to meet our tour guide and drive through the hills of Tuscany. It was such a fun time, I felt like we were in an Italian movie, buzzing around the countryside. Mateo was so impressed with Mick and Kens driving he took us through a more difficult winding road which is 2 way traffic but only room for 1 car, luckily we didn’t pass anyone. There’s a lot of crazy Italian drivers. The views were spectacular and we all wished we’d booked a longer tour. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who comes here. Note: Mateo was mostly impressed with the boys as yesterday he had some Chinese tourists who tried to overtake him lol.

We then headed back to town and went in search of a laundromat and lunch. We found both and had a great lunch at Trattoria ZaZa, we’ve booked in for dinner tomorrow night after we’ve picked our washing back up.

We then decided to head to the gold bridge, walking through markets along the way, making a few purchases. The leather and linen here are so cheap.

Gelato time again and we had the biggest most expensive gelato we could find. Sheeesh, it was delicious but we were all in a sugar coma.

The Gold bridge is a bridge over the river with gold shops lining it. It’s the oldest bridge in Florence. When the Medici moved from Palazzo Vecchio to Palazzo Pitti, they decided they needed a connecting route from the Uffizi to the Palazzo Pitti on the other side of the River that would enable them to keep out of contact with the people they ruled. The result was the Corridoio Vasariano, built in 1565 which runs above the little shops. Quite an amazing area with so much history.

We wandered back to our little b&b, and when I say wandered that’s all we did, Florence is very flat and the town center small so you can walk wherever you need to go, it’s really lovely. I’m thinking it might have won my heart over Paris if you can believe that!!

Leisa and I decided on a blow dry so off we went in search of a hairdresser. We had a wash blow dry and treatment and it still close less than Mick’s barber visit in Milan lol. We won’t let him live that down.

We’re going for an early dinner and hoping for an early night as we have a big day winery visiting tomorrow.

Note for those visiting Florence. Pedestrian crossings and green walk signs mean nothing. Cars speed up as they approach, so cross with caution... they are crazy.
