Walking, eating, drinking, shopping and Moulin Rouge

Where do I start? I'm laying here exhausted, it's been a busy 24 hours. Yesterday we started the day by waking at 4.30. It was raining so we spent much of the day poking around the local shops.  Last night we went to Moulin Rouge which was fantastic, so many beautiful costumes and over the top sets and dancers. One of the highlights being the girl dancing underwater in a tank full of snakes. Lots of people say it's touristy and overrated but we loved it. We didn't do the dinner option, we went to a little Italian restaurant across the road and had a fabulous 2 course dinner including wine for €46 ($66aud).

Today was another walking, shopping and eating day. We left the apartment at about 10.00 and returned at about 7.30 and most of this time was spent walking, needless to say the feet are burning and the hip flexors are making themselves known.

We went to Galeries Lafayette and looked through the beautiful shops, it was interesting to note that the only people who seemed to be buying were the Asian tourists. They were all sporting purchases in numerous bags from Chanel, Louis Vuitton and other luxury brands.

One of the reasons we went to Galeries Lafayette was of course food related. Last time we were there we stumbled across Steak Point and had the most delicious Gourmet Burger and chips accompanied by a glass of Moët. Last visit I rated this burger the best I've ever eaten and I have to say having it again today, it's still the best.

After having such a large lunch we decided to walk to the Grand Passages in the 9th. These passages were built in the 1800's and are undercover walkways with lots of interesting little shops such as antiques, old coin and stamps, a gorgeous toy shop with French toys. It was a nice change from the tourist and upmarket shops we've been seeing on our travels.

Later in the afternoon we again decided to walk instead of metro and we headed to Fauchon which is a large gourmet food store, lucky for us they also have a little restaurant where we could sip some champagne and rest our weary legs.

Enough chit chat, here's some photos xx

Oops forgot to mention morning tea ;)

I just love the buildings, walking really is the best way to see Paris
